Abatec are currently recruiting for a Building Services Manager to join our client, a Tier 1 contractor, based out of their South Wales office. This will be a site-based role, working on a prestigious health care project, located in Merthyr Tydfil and will be responsible for delivering the MEP aspect of the project within budget while optimising cost and quality. Upon completion of the initial project, the successful individual will support the ongoing growth of our client, by assisting and overseeing both pre-construction and live projects, throughout the South Wales region. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working for a main contractor or in a similar or equivalent role, with previous experience working on health care projects. As a Building Services Manager you will: Assist with bids and pre-construction activities and input into contractor’s proposal documents Carry out appraisal of tender documents, forming part of the tender enquiry package and advise Regional Estimator/Quantity Surveyor on risk, opportunity and technical issues Liaise with consultants/sub-contractors throughout the tender period regarding technical queries, clarifications, alternatives, attendances, programme and logistics Liaise with the pre-construction team and review MEP tender returns and advise on technical compliance, risk, opportunity and validate any VE or alternative proposals Review MEP design information and undertake gap analysis Manage consultants and subcontractors and the preparation of design submissions or contractor’s proposals as appropriate Work closely with design managers regarding co-ordination of interfaces and across wider disciplines Have input into and attend pre-qualification interviews Ensure MEP designs are economic, do not exceed budget and are compliant with the works information, code and best practice Carry out cost checks on MEP design proposals and escalate serious deviations as appropriate Monitor, co-ordinate and control the flow of MEP design information to ensure the timely release of information for construction activities Ensure the M&E design is validated on completion of the works Attend design team meetings Arrange and lead MEP design meetings with subcontractors and clients and produce minutes Comment on MEP, architectural and engineering design drawings Review co-ordination drawings Ensure MEP information released for construction has been reviewed by the supply chain, subcontractors and construction team and amended/signed-off / approved prior to issue for construction Our client requires a Building Services Manager with: Building services qualification Degree, HND or equivalent A mechanical bias preferred CSCS Managers card SMSTS qualification Healthcare and education experience Experience of working for a main contractor Experience in the delivery of large-scale D&B projects A full UK driving licence Salary and benefits include: - Salary 55,000 - £65,000 DOE - Company car / car allowance - Pension scheme - Medical Insurance If you would like more information, or to apply for this vacancy, please contact Hayley Fisher.
