Our vision of a new TV experience is independent from location, time and device. We build Apps for mobile, web and big screens on platforms like Apple, Android, Samsung, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox One and many more. Since our start in 2005, we bring a huge selection of sport events, movies and TV series to the favorite devices of our users. In addition, our B2B team delivers TV and VOD solutions to cable operators, internet service providers and many others, thus positioning Zattoo as a top notch technology partner. Sustainability - a data center in a wind turbine At Zattoo, we support the creativity, ambition and teamwork of our team members. That's why every year we organise the so-called Zattoo Hackdays. It’s a getaway from daily work and a focus on new, exciting and individual projects. For three days we give every Zattooie the chance to work outside their daily routine, spend extra time to study innovative concepts and to collaborate with new teammates. The impact hackdays can have on us as a team and as a company can be seen in our efforts to enable climate-friendly TV streaming. What started as an idea at Hackdays ended up with us becoming the first climate-neutral TV streaming provider. Working together with ClimatePartner, an expert in climate action in companies, we have calculated our carbon footprint. Emissions of 692 tonnes of CO2 were produced in 2019. We will offset this in full by supporting certified carbon offset projects, and are also planning an offset for 2020, making us effectively climate neutral. With targeted projects such as operating a data centre in a wind turbine, we are working on the climate neutral television of the future. The 692 tonnes of CO2 consumed will be completely balanced out by certified carbon offset projects. We support the reforestation of German woodlands along with the “Plastic Bank” project, in which people in Haiti, Indonesia, Brazil and the Philippines can exchange plastic waste they have gathered for money, food or drinking water at local collection points. The CO2 offset takes place through a wind farm project in the Philippines as well as an internationally-recognised forest protection project in Brazil. In this way, we use the clean energy directly where it’s generated. This project is a genuine innovation and totally unique worldwide.
