Position Type: Part-time (8.00/8.30am -12.30pm) possibility of full time for candidates who do maintenance Zajac Ranch for Children is located in the shores of Stave Lake, between Mission and Maple Ridge. The ranch offers different activities to groups, including horse riding and a small petting zoo with goats, alpacas, chickens, donkey, rabbits and sheep. We are looking for 2 enthusiastic barn managers to join our team on different days of the week. The Barn Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day care of the horses, petting zoo and the barn facilities. Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of horse care, including feed and medication schedules as well as exercising different horses on a daily basis. Collaborate with the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director and Facility manager in support of the operational dynamics of the ranch, in particular our summer program for children with disabilities. When we welcome groups, the barn manager is responsible for leading the horse walks, with the assistance of staff Mucking stalls REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: · Working knowledge of stables and the above mentioned animals. We have 5-7 horses at any given time, most of them older horses. · Must have own reliable transportation. The ranch is located on Km 8.5 of Florence Lake Road, which is not paved. · Must be able to work independently, as part of a team · Clean enhanced police background check · Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and organize barn tasks, maintaining records of what is done and attention to detail Working Conditions: 8.30am start for the first feed, rain or sunshine Some heavy lifting and carrying The barn manager is the only person working in the barn, with the exception of the summer months.
