Job Title: Executive Director Branch: YMCA of Lenawee County (Adrian, MI) Supervisor: District Vice President Position Description: This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and cause-driven professional. In partnership with ProMedica the YMCA of Lenawee County will be opening a new state of the art facility in the second half of 2020. In addition The YMCA of Lenawee County and the YMCA of Greater Toledo are working towards merging the organizations. Key partners include the City of Adrian, Adrian Public Schools, Adrian College and ProMedica. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in fundraising, fiscal management, community partnerships, creative and innovative programming and membership strategies, and working with a non-profit board of directors. Ability to forge relationships with community leaders and stakeholders to share the mission and vision of the YMCA is paramount. The YMCA of Greater Toledo, a thriving, association with 10 branches, is Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan’s largest not for profit agency, serving over 57,000 members annually. The YMCA of Lenawee County serves the cities of Adrian, Tecumseh and Blissfield, along with numerous outlying communities. The current operating budget is $1 million with anticipated growth to $1.5 million over the next three years. The community is characterized by good people, affordable housing and great schools Under the guidance of the District Vice President, the Executive Director is responsible for administering the total operation of the YMCA of Lenawee County including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community organizations. KNOW HOW: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required. The candidate must have YMCA background to properly understand the nature and function of YMCA programs and services. Candidate should have at minimum Multi-Team or Team Leader Certification with the YMCA of the USA with prior experience as a branch executive director. Strong human relations and communication skills in order to coordinate activities and to work effectively with staff and volunteers is essential. Strong leadership, organizational and public relations skills, plus excellent fiscal management are a must. JOB SEGMENTS: 1. Direct the financial development activities of the branch including membership and program growth as well as the Annual Campaign success. 2. Develops, manages and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets. 3. Develops and directs high quality relationship-based engagement strategies. Models relationship building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community. 4. Understands and fully implements the Y-Improvement model at his/her branch and will ensure that all management staff are fully engaged in the process. 5. Work with staff to develop and implement approved membership strategies and campaigns. 6. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the mission, goals and strategies. 7. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops, maintains, and models positive collaborative working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and government entities. 8. Coordinate staff and volunteer development, including recruitment, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, terminations, etc. 9. Serve as a member of the Leadership Team of the YMCA of Greater Toledo and other association responsibilities as assigned. 10. Oversee management and maintenance of facility and equipment, ensuring high quality, safe facilities, grounds and equipment. Involves members and community in the development of programs and activities. Ensures execution of plans. Institutes sound accounting procedures, investment policies and financial controls. Assigns clear accountability and ensures continuous improvement. Personal Growth: Fosters a learning environment embracing diverse abilities and approaches. Creates a sense of urgency and positive tension to support change. Anticipates challenges that can sidetrack or derail growth and personal learning. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology. EFFECT ON END RESULT: The Executive Director is responsible for the overall success of the branch and it’s departments. This position is primarily concerned with ensuring quality programs and building positive long-term relationships with members. This branch is viewed as a resource to the association; therefore, successful fulfillment of this position will be measured by: 1. Continued growth of the budget, membership, program and program enrollment. 2. Increased utilization of volunteers 3. The effectiveness of its branch Board of Managers and Board committees. 4. Additionally, the YMCA of Lenawee County contributes 8% of an eligible employee’s wage to the Y Retirement Fund.
