About the Business Wilmar Sugar Australia is the nation's leading sugar and renewable energy company. We are Australia's largest raw sugar manufacturer and exporter. Wilmar Sugar owns and operates eight sugar mills in North Queensland. Our mills - located in the Herbert, Burdekin, Proserpine and Plane Creek regions - operate 24/7 during the crushing season, which typically runs from June to November. Outside of the crush, our teams are involved in an intensive repair, maintenance and innovation program to ensure our sugar mills continue to be safe and reliable, and among the most efficient in the world. Job Vacancy Applications are sought from suitable candidates for the position of Chemical Attendant at Pioneer Mill in the Burdekin Region. This position involves day work, and may require some weekend work and overtime. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to: Work effectively within a team environment as a member of a work team. Undertake further training. Work safely and look after the safety of others in the area. Communicate effectively on telephone and two-way radio. Work in conjunction with Maintenance Teams. Be able to provide regular and accurate feedback to the Work Coordinator on factory issues. The main duties of the position are:- Chemical Stocktaking and stocks management. Regular and representative sampling of bagasse, mill juices for laboratory analysis. Assist the laboratory with general housekeeping duties, chemical decanting and waste removal. Effluent collection and #1 Mill cleaning. Monitoring, troubleshooting and making adjustments to the boiler and cooling tower chemical dosing systems, under the guidance of the Technical Assistant. Work with contract service provider and assist with chemical cleaning Provide assistance in the cleaning of mills and/or evaporator/filter station operation on maintenance days. General housekeeping of the water treatment areas. Check on and take corrective action to maintain the starch enzyme (Amylase) and evaporator anti scale dosing systems, in consultation with the evaporator operator. Lubrication, checking and cleaning of machinery throughout the COGEN.
