An exciting opportunity has arisen to join William Hill as we continue to deliver significant transformational change to leverage our Data, Analytics and Digital technologies. We're looking for a Global Data Architect to lead on how our data will be consumed, integrated and managed by different systems and parts of our global business. You'll have the opportunity to advance our evolution architecture for our Global Data Platform and to support and fuel our UK Online and Retail, International and US growth ambitions through advanced data capabilities. Your role in the team: Using your extensive experience in designing practical architectural states and solutions for data integration and platform, you're expertise will enable us to harness traditional, new and emerging technologies and revolutionise the usage of the huge volumes of data we store. Used to operating in a complex and fast paced large enterprise, you'll ensure that designs and solutions are fit for purpose, that we get it right first time and create solid, yet market leading foundations, for our future growth and success. You’ll work closely with colleagues across our global functions and support our Data Science, Digital Analytics and Business Intelligence teams. Your peer group will be Heads of Technology, Enterprise Architecture and senior business leaders. You’ll be closely aligned to our overall business strategy and will have input into conversations at the highest level. You’ll manage a small team across multiple locations who’ll rely on you for leadership and technical direction. The key technical elements of this role will allow you to have an impact on our Vision, Strategy and Target Architecture. You can put your stamp on our tech roadmap in the following ways: Working closely with our domain architects, defining the overall back-end, front-end and systems data integration vision and strategy - ensuring accurate data is accessible at the right-time to support business goals Assessing the compatibility and integration of proposed products and services to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies Designing and developing data architecture solutions to business problems You’ll have a holistic view of our global architecture through Activation, Commercialisation, Governance and Support. A large amount of your time will be devoted to: Managing the data architecture in an ever-changing, complex environment Developing architecture and technology roadmaps which consider the future needs of the business Leading the creation and ongoing maintenance process of data architecture artefacts, including conceptual and logical architectures, reference diagrams, etc Supporting the development of data architecture governance structures and compliance activities through practical project governance and guidance Assessing cluster projects’ data needs to optimise costs, output and development effort to drive standardisation, harmonisation and reusability Commercialising new front-end and back-end functionality and supporting pilot and POC project implementations Enabling a robust quality assurance framework to ensure project activities are fully aligned to Data Architecture guidelines Providing overviews to educate users on data availability, promoting global scalability and synergy Defining standard guidelines to drive high reusability and enable a global development approach Establishing and chairing a cross-functional Global Data Architecture Governance Forum This role will allow you to step outside the technology and get involved in Innovation, Collaboration and Mentorship. Here’s how you can go one better, and build your legacy: Constantly monitor emerging trends and technology and drive pilots of potential technologies Investigate and be hands on in integrating new technologies Partner with strategic vendors to investigate new ways of tackling business and technology challenges Work with research and advisory companies to identify trends and emerging technology solutions Help key stakeholders shape information demand and align on effective use of data assets Makes decisions on key technology purchases to align Data investments with business strategies, while reducing risk and delivering adaptive solutions Act as mentor and coach on Data Architecture best practices Skills needed You’re an accomplished Architect with a deep understanding of both Enterprise and Data Architecture. A strong, innovative and inspiring leader you can bring insight, translate and communicate complex requirements and deliver on an international scale. You have an analytical mind that can take strategic concepts and break them down into logical technical steps. You understand the evolution of data and can build on our ongoing transformation from traditional data warehousing to the latest cutting edge solutions. With a bachelor's degree, ideally in Engineering or Computer Science, and significant experience with big data technologies at enterprise scale, you've worked with new and emerging tech - ideally AWS, Snowflake and similar and have experience of implementing cloud data warehousing. You’ll be familiar with machine learning, automation technologies and analytical tools like Power BI and QlikView. You have a track record of success at a senior level, you're able to work with minimal guidance and are a decisive leader. You approach situations with pragmatism, used to taking a strategic view and are able to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills. You lead with gravitas and your communication style allows you to naturally engage and influence with peers and senior stakeholders to drive results. You can adapt very technical ideas for all types of audiences, and can use your people skills to gauge situations, deal with ambiguity and often navigate conflicting priorities and contentious issues. You have a can do attitude and determined to get things done in the right way, passionate about data and ideally with a keen interest in the industry. You’ll be a dynamic individual, always striving for the best and motivated by challenge. Always looking for new and innovative approaches to drive change and improve current state, you'll use your experience and expertise to ensure continual improvement and best in class solutions for William Hill. This is a highly visible senior role and will act as a crucial evangelist for transformation. The role will have regular travel requirements - we have offices in Leeds, London, Gibraltar, Malta, Krakow and the US.
