General Purpose and Scope of Position The Field Agronomy Technician is responsible for pest trap placement, monitoring/recording pest activity of various crops and pests, gathering lab samples, data entry, shipping, and assisting with the Field Development program. The Field Agronomy Technician works closely with the Field Sales, Field Development, and our Nutrition Technical Agronomist. Responsibilities include: Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and direction from the lead sales agronomists Willingness to travel (150 miles, or more, from the Branch) Basic knowledge of agricultural production and practices in the Willamette Valley Must demonstrate basic knowledge of herbicides and fertilizers (dry and liquid) Basic knowledge of computers utilizing Microsoft Windows, Windows applications, and Sample submission software Prepare traps for placement in the field Install traps in fields – inspect and monitor on a weekly basis Maintain data counts for the number of pests trapped Willingness and ability to learn and use AgVerdict for all record-keeping activities Comply with company safety standards Take soil samples as needed or directed by sales Scout crops for economic pests and report to appropriate Sales Representative Assist Technical Agronomist-Nutrition with data collection and harvest activities Requirements: Ability to maintain accurate counts Occasionally may need to work Saturdays. Dependable and reliable Good interpersonal skills Ability to operate an all-terrain vehicle (ATV)/4-wheeler), loading and unloading Ability to safely drive and operate a company vehicle within the state and company guidelines Detail and accuracy orientation with an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills with a positive attitude and ability to establish relationships with field personnel, peers and customers Physically able to endure outdoor climates including hot or cold weather extremes Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include: Assist Field Sales Agronomists with timely crop observations to help with proper product selection and use based on agronomic needs Strictly follow all company policies which includes safety & regulatory Other duties as assigned Compensation and Benefits Competitive Salary (to be determined based on experience and other factors) Comprehensive company benefits If you are currently a Wilbur-Ellis employee, please notify your Manager prior to applying for this position.
