Description: JOB SUMMARY Provide security and assistance to patients and visitors after routine business hours in the Sleep Lab and Diagnostic Center. Maintain a visible presence, being alert to unusual or suspicious activity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide assistance to patients and visitors who are being seen in departments open after routine business hours. Provide directions to department and transport if necessary. Communicate with patients or visitors entering MCC from WFH stating MCC is closed unless they are visiting the Diagnostic Center, or Sleep Lab. Patrol all areas of the main lobby from the entrance to elevator bays and WFH entrance to MCC from 5pm to 9pm Monday through Friday. Do not verbally or physically interact in a confrontational manner with patients or visitors. If patient or visitor becomes confrontational, communicate immediately with maintenance personnel on-call and Doctors’ Call Center. Be watchful for unusual or suspicious activity and be prepared to call law enforcement if necessary. Be prepared to help secure MCC properties with minimal notice in the event of inclement weather and/or unpredictable crisis situations, and to stay on site during such conditions. Lock the doors between WFH and MCC at 7pm Monday through Friday and communicate with Doctors’ Call Center when this task is completed. Perform other tasks as directed, including tasks which may provide assistance to departments other than those specifically listed in this job description. Requirements: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS. Minimum education requirement is high school diploma or GED. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Displays customer services skills, strong interpersonal skills, close attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Be a person of integrity and character, willing to embrace change and make a positive impact in the lives of patients and co-workers. Ability to work with staff members at all levels of the organization in a cooperative, team-oriented manner Ability to navigate the entire medical campus utilizing stairwells and elevators. Ability to switch shifts (weekdays or weekends) with minimal notice. Proficient in use of English language both in written and verbal communication. Must be able to communicate with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds. Displays ability of giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Strength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Ability to lift, move, support, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a periodic basis. Standing/Walking: Frequently Dexterity: Occasionally; activity exists from 1/3 of the time. Ability to work in various positions (standing, sitting, bending, and walking) for extended periods of time. Talking (Must be able to effectively communicate verbally): Yes Seeing: Yes Hearing: Yes Ability to push a patient in a wheelchair periodically. Ability to stand and walk on a periodic basis. Able to operate telephone, wheelchair, stretcher, dolly, all types of MCC vehicles, and two-way communications devices. EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Must exhibit stable work behaviors daily. Must possess adequate individual coping skills. Ability to remain calm and professional regardless of workload or time constraints. Must be able to work under stress and remain calm and professional. WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposed to frequent and constant interruptions in daily functions/schedule Must be available to customers and staff throughout the day/night. May be required to work extended hours to meet department needs
