Our client is a registered non-profit organisation that supports children, families and communities who live on wine and fruit farms in and around Stellenbosch, Wellington, Hemel-en-Aarde and Citrusdal. Their work consists of 5 main pillars: education, health, nutrition, protection and community. An exciting opportunity exists at our client for a dynamic, innovative and motivated Fundraiser, based in Stellenbosch, to play an important role in spearheading the organisation’s fundraising initiatives while maintaining a funding base which is diverse and drives a long-term fundraising strategy to ensure a sustainable income for the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of fundraising activities in an effort to promote the vision and image of the organisation. The candidate will also aim to grow the contribution of existing stakeholders and forge new partnerships by successfully implementing a strategic direction in fundraising, communications and public relations. Responsibilities: Work with the fundraising team to manage and maintain the organisation’s Fundraising and Marketing strategy Brand development & strategy; including identifying networking and profile-raising opportunities for the organisation Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing fundraising strategies and objectives as needed Managing and coordinating various fundraising initiatives, including (but not limited to) proposal writing, sponsorship programmes and event planning Liaise with donors, volunteers, visitors and media Annual budgeting and forecasting Report back to the leadership team, trustees and donors on a quarterly basis or as required Job requirements: Relevant tertiary qualification Five years’ experience in a similar role, including experience in budgeting and forecasting A proven track record in fundraising in a non-profit organisation or other institution is essential Previous PR experience will be advantageous The ability to engage with, and build a varied base of donors, within the context of the organisation Fluent in English (essential) and in Afrikaans (useful), and excellent written/oral communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a great team Attention to detail, ability to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and to successfully deliver a variety of objectives Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings occasionally A valid driving license and own reliable transport Available five days per week from 08h00 to 17h00 In accordance with our client’s commitment to Employment Equity, preference will be given to HDI candidates.
