Rough Sleepers Co-ordinator – Contract Watford, Hertfordshire About Us Watford is an urban borough in South West Hertfordshire; the borough has excellent transport links with mainline rail connections to London. Watford is the centre of a sub region serving around 500,000 people living within a 20 minute travelling time catchment. As part of the London commuter belt, Watford is strongly influenced by London which brings the benefits of a buoyant economy. We are now looking for a Rough Sleepers Co-ordinator to join us on a 12 month contract, starting April 2020, to help decrease the number of people sleeping rough throughout Watford. The Role As a Rough Sleepers Co-ordinator, you will assist the council in the delivery of services to support people sleeping rough throughout Watford, with the aim of reducing their numbers to under five by March 2021. As well as reduction, your role will aim to prevent rough sleeping through identifying the underlying issues and correlations. You will have the chance to contribute to the future of our Housing First project and a housing scheme to protect homeless couples and individuals who have complex needs. Reporting to the Housing Strategy Officer, your role will involve: Acting as the main point of contact for issues relating to rough sleepers Ensuring services are delivered with the highest standards of customer care and inclusivity Building and managing strong partnerships with external teams, forums and outreach programmes Developing and delivering improvements to projects and services Preparing and presenting reports relating to rough sleepers and street-based activity Working with Watford’s Homelessness Forum and Community Safety Partnership About You To join us as a Rough Sleepers Co-ordinator, you will need: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to easily engage sensitively and persuasively with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels An understanding and the ability to get others to apply the requirements and ethos of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 Fantastic attention to detail, with the ability to collect, analyse and present accurate data Ideally, you will have experience of working with rough sleepers.
