Human Resources (HR) Manager Wall Residences, a 25-year old human services agency dedicated to providing excellent services to individuals with disabilities and located in Floyd, VA, is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to join our growing team. The HR Manager will partner with operational managers & will provide advice on company policy and best practices in the areas of recruitment, on-boarding, training, performance management, coaching, progressive discipline, and employment law. The duties of this position include: Provide oversight and leadership to the HR Department that includes four team members. Responsible for the outcome of an HR department that provides best practice customer service to the agency's most valuable asset - our employees. Responsible to lead the annual employee benefits renewal process. Administer the company's 401k plan, to include compliance, testing, & audits. Assist the Director of Finance to administer the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Assist Director of Finance to oversee payroll operations. Responsible to ensure that the company's health benefits, FMLA, and STD / LTD policies are implemented correctly, and that employees receive correct and timely information. Review current recruitment strategy and on-boarding of new staff and determine improvements that may be beneficial. Survey employees periodically to ensure satisfaction/provide follow-up and support upon request. Assist with all aspects of Human Resources from hiring until retirement or termination - including job descriptions, employee improvement plans, identifying training needs, counseling for performance issues, etc. Work with program staff to develop needed manuals and handbooks for employees. Assist in maintaining proper administration of leaves & suspensions. Assist in reviewing & implementing drug-free workplace policy. Periodically review the personnel policies of the company for regulatory compliance. Ensure that the company is meeting our obligations as related to the personnel policies. Communicate with the Directors of the agency any issues that arise or resources needed. Provide employees with assistance and/or direct them to the Employee Assistance Program for support. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and at least two years of related experience, with excellent communication & organizational skills. Knowledge of state and federal labor laws & best practices in human resources. SHRM membership is a plus. Wall Residences is a team-based organization and the leadership team works together to solve problems. The Human Resources Manager reports directly to the Executive Director & will also receive direction from the Finance Director.
