Volkert is searching for a Construction Manager to join our Program Management Division in Miami, FL. What you’ll be doing: Responsible for overall construction project performance including financial success, schedule, subcontract management, and client relations. Determine contract requirements and construction management / inspection staffing needs, project and staff supervision, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to staff to deliver quality projects. Manage cost control systems, review and analyze plans, facilitate the bidding/negotiations/buyout process with a general contractor, review all forms (bidding, construction, or other) of requests for information (RFI’s), examine and negotiate change orders, and review and comment on submittals. Oversee day to day oversight of construction activities, progress estimates and payments, and project closeout Maintaining relationships in the construction community to provide market intelligence as well as ensure consideration for future business development opportunities. What you need to have: B.S. or. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent 2+ years of experience in Construction Management / Inspection for vertical construction projects Previous experience with school/residential/hospitality/high rise construction is required. Demonstrated experience in QA/QC development and project implementation. Knowledge and understanding of project controls, including CPM scheduling, cost estimating, contract administration, and change order and claims analysis. Experience in Design – Build projects, either with a Contractor or Consultant CM Team is a plus but not a requirement. CMIT or CCM is a plus but not required Demonstrated skills in negotiating, coordinating and directing work of subcontractors, and in developing strong working relationships with general contractor personnel, subcontractors, inspectors, and other related parties.
