Education/Certification: * Bachelor’s Degree Master’s Degree preferred – experience may replace advanced degree Texas Teacher Certification (Elementary and Secondary Fine Arts Course of study) Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate Certified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser Special Knowledge/Skills: * Collaborative skills Human relation skills Knowledge of broad range of curriculum and instruction strategies Flexibility and Creativity Extensive knowledge of fine arts curriculum design and implementation Experience in the Arts Education field demonstrated through state-wide and national appearances and presentations Knowledge of networking for recruitment in the arts education industry Experience: 5 years of successful teaching preferably at the secondary level Major Responsibilities & Duties: Design and implement a fine arts curriculum aligned to the TEKS and VISD standards. Maintain positive public relations with various fine arts community organizations. Evaluate fine arts program success and student achievement. Evaluate program growth, teacher-lesson delivery, facility needs, equipment needs. Researches grant possibilities for the fine arts department. Oversee application of grants. Stay abreast of developments relating to fine arts education state-wide and nationally. Other duties as requested by VISD.
