Position Overview: Reporting to the Production Manager, the Processing Supervisor functions as an integral member of the Operations Team and shares the responsibility for establishing and maintaining a professional working environment that is committed to customer service, quality, teamwork and continuous improvement. In addition, the supervisor is directly accountable for ensuring that products meet or exceed the standards set for safety, quality, cost, productivity and customer service in this established food manufacturing facility. Coverage in case of Absence: In the absence of a Processing Supervisor, another Production Supervisor or Production Manager will cover his/her designated post. Core Deliverables: Shift supervision to oversee the smooth running of all aspects of food processing ensuring that the high quality food products are produced in accordance with all operating standards. Guarantee the labour through daily production and distribution schedules, in order to ensure the expected processing efficiencies. Monitor shift processing activities against production plan and paperwork and communicate progress within the team on the shift Responsible that all raw materials/Ingredients required to meet the production plan are in stock and available. Identify, evaluate, control, prevent and correct hazards in the processing areas. Take corrective actions to solve or address unsafe situations, employee’s behaviors, quality and mechanical issues. Overseeing and assisting team members in processing activities on assigned shift to ensure that QC protocols are in place with all required documentation (including daily records) completed accurately and on time. Work is performed according to SOP’s, GMPsFood Safety Requirements and Health and Safety standards Deliver training to team members as required to ensure proper production SOP’s, GMP’s, equipment and Health & Safety Standards are met Monitoring and maintenance of the required high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping Carry out timely and effective line handover to supervisors between shifts, including the completion of proper documentation and accurate briefing on progress/issues Ensure proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols are followed by all team members at all times Checking and verification of timekeeping logs for assigned team members daily Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and codes in all areas of plant including WSIB, HACCP, WHMIS, & Workplace H&S Conduct accident-incidents investigations, take corrective actions based in the root cause in order to reduce or eliminate workplace accidents. Skill & Experience to: Demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills in processing areas like pre-batching and batching activities, set-up of equipment and supplies needed in processes, and general production requirements Identify, schedule, and follow up on preventative equipment maintenance and comprehend general mechanical processes Work with employees to adequately ensure HACCP, USDA OSHA and other regulatory standards are met Maintain or exceed goals on yields, productivity and efficiencies Understand and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Provide leadership and supervision to the production staff ensuring an excellent job performance Work well with a diverse workforce To solicit suggestions in the areas of safety, efficiency and morale from all levels of employees including management, general laborers, supervisors, etc. Qualifications/Experience: A minimum of 3 – 5 years supervisory experience Experience in Food Manufacturing facilities Post secondary education in a related field Hands on and results oriented supervisory experience Proficiency to diagnose and coordinate activities in order to solve Mechanical Manufacturing issues. Self-detail and able to work under pressure in a fast environment. Ability to sustain excellent interpersonal and labour relations across cultural and ethnic diversity Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient with basic standards office computer technology such as Microsoft Office (Work & Excel). Reporting of any Food Safety or Quality Problems: Staff are to report any food safety or food quality problems or concerns that they become aware of to personnel with authority to initiate action.
