We need an experienced Manager for our Minimart in Hamilton You will have full responsibility for getting the business off the ground and flying after a change of ownership so you must have the ability to manage all aspects of the business. This includes: Deciding on product mix, stock levels and service standards Dealing with suppliers and negotiating equipment, supply and delivery arrangements Maintaining records of stock level and orders Checking invoices and delivery dockets Setting the price on the stock, display and ticketing Budget and monitor costs to ensure shop profitability Dealing with sales, maintaining financial transactions and liaising with company accountant or advisors as required. Marketing and promotion of the business to develop a loyal local business and also to take advantage of any passing traffic Arranging and pricing special promotions, displays and events Selection/ hiring/ supervision/ training of permanent and casual staff ensuring they are familiar with all aspects of their job and carrying out their responsibilities properly Ensuring store security and proper training of staff in all food, hygiene and health and safety and security procedures Handling transaction records on a daily basis and monitoring staff performance Dealing with customer queries and complaints as when needed Refining and improving the business to respond to customer feedback Any other duties when applicable for the smooth running of the business General upkeep of all areas around the shop, personal safety of the staff You must be able to work variable hours and weekends according to a flexible schedule to suit the company roster. Store opening hours range from 6 am opening to 8 pm closing, with different hours on different days of the week. You must also have: Relevant tertiary business qualifications or equivalent experience Previous experience in a Management or Supervisory role in the Retail industry, in either a franchised or standalone business Lottery certificate or knowledge about NZ lottery is preferable A full clean driver’s licence Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent computer, Pos and stock control system skills Be reliable, organised and efficient An excellent customer focus and high standards Ability to maintain retail premises to a high standard NB Our ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary business qualifications or at least 3 years’ equivalent experience including management/supervisory experience in a retail/grocery environment. We will consider training candidates who have at least 1 year’s previous retail experience in a management or supervisory role in the retail industry, in either a franchised or standalone business.
