We are currently recruiting for a Head of Financial Controlling-Milk Supply & Ingredients to join our friendly team. We are looking for an experienced individual to provide financial decision making support; to the Operations Director in respect of Milk Procurement, Tanker Logistics and Trading departments, to the Ingredients Director in respect of the Ingredients business unit, to other directors responsible for outsourced product manufacturing. You will act as financial lead in these areas driving improvements in commercial decision making, Financial controls, reporting and forecasting/budgeting. The role can be based in Market Drayton, (Western Way), Severnside or Droitwich. In this role the key responsibilities will include: Detailed understanding of the underlying monthly performance of all aspects of Milk Supply and Ingredients. Understand and manage the financial reporting of outsourced products. Responsible for investigating and explaining significant variances which impact profitability. Assist Operations Director in decision making and scenario planning in respect of our farmer strategy, milk balancing and the Ingredients Director in planning our Cream and Ingredients strategy. Co-ordinate and facilitate the detailed budget and forecasting process with the Commercial teams and Commercial Controlling. The role is responsible for managing all direct farmer payment in an accruate and timely manner. Ensure that costs and invoices for all milk, cream, butter, powder, and outsourced products bought or sold (diverted and rejected) are recorded accurately, on time and within the Financial Reporting system. Ensure that all volume movements are recorded and appropriate daily/weekly/ monthly processes and reports are in place to assist decision making Ensure that accurate records of all transactions and inventory values are maintained and that formal reconciliations to test accuracy of invoices/costs are carried out each month. Ensure that teams utilise the systems available to them to record all transactions in a timely and appropriate manner and that SAP FI/COPA differences are resolved quickly and effectively. Responsible for the accuracy of financial data provided by Agriculture and IBL teams to other departments and in particular Management Accounts The Financial Controller will facilitate the month end process and sign off all relevant MI to be supplied to Group Finance agreeing monthly performance in totality. Responsible for design/implement weekly kpis to measure performance in month. Feed into monthly accounts process any additional accruals required to accurately reflect the true costs in each month. Ensure business has clear visibility on drivers of cost and impact on business in the month Formal monthly financial review meeting with the Business Leadership team. Formal monthly performance review with Senior Group Milk Supply and Senior Ingredients teams. Challenge budget and forecast assumptions for Agriculture, IBL, Ingredients and Outsourced products Key responsibility is driving improved financial performance in Agriculture, IBL, Ingredients and Outsourced products (incl milk trading) which means milk collection, milk purchasing, milk & cream trading/balancing, butter production, powder production and outsourced product supply. Challenge the Operations team at Market Drayton and Severnside the Farmer management team, the Milk Supply/Trading teams, the ingredients teams with achieving their targets and improve decision making and collaboration by these departments Seek to work to identify financial saving opportunities and deliver these on time and in accordance with plan Drive improvements in the management of milk, cream and bulk butter movement and inventory holding, to ensure movements are properly recorded and any inventory risks are identified and relevant teams have timely information to resolve the issues. This role is responsible for providing business partner support to both the Operations Director and Ingredients Director assisting them in delivering the targeted levels of profitability. Support these directors’ Leadership Teams in achieving their targets and improve profitability. This role is also a key business partner to the Finance Director – Controlling with regards to business performance and the Finance Director – Financial Accounting in relation to financial reporting process improvements. The Finance Directors are reliant on the key work carried out by this individual and their views/perspective in performing their duties Responsible for designing a robust decision making process to allow the business to play in the right markets (make butter / sell cream). Develop systems to allow the Ingredients team to fully understand the impact of market fluctuations on business performance. Responsible for reviewing the Capex request and reporting process. Responsible for overseeing team members carry out all relevant capex requests and approvals using the Muller Group standard documentation and GO compliant processes. Post completion payback assessments are to be completed thus measuring the efficiency of investment and actual performance against the assumptions built into the original capex requests. Key skills & experience 5 years post qualification experience. Proven experience in the FMCG environment. Excellent systems capability. Ideally both SAP & Movex experience Strong influencing capabilities Excellent relationship building and communication skills; able to tailor communications to the audience involved.
