This position will be primarily responsible for reviewing privacy and information security contracts in accordance with state and federal law. In addition, they will work with the procurement team to build and manage a contract work flow that will properly identify vendors that require privacy assurances in the contract process. This position will be responsible for ensuring appropriate record creation, filing, tracking, and retention. The Healthcare Compliance & Privacy Intern must interface with vendor counsel, monitor best practices, and maintain objectivity. In addition, be responsible for documenting the findings, working with internal and external subject matter experts to formulate conclusions or potential solutions, and prepare concise reports, presentations and other documents as may be needed for communication to a wide variety of stakeholders. May be assigned other projects and duties as necessary. Applies medical center policies and procedures to evaluate a variety of privacy and / or compliance issues. Responsible for conducting and documenting work that is limited in scope. Compensation Range: $5,708.33 - $8,695.83 Department Website: http://ucihealth.org/compliance/privacy-compliance Required: 1-3 years of relevant experience Current law school student or JD, and/or equivalent experience/training Knowledge of privacy compliance requirements and reporting guidelines from all relevant clinical program regulatory bodies. Familiarity with the clinical and operational implications involved. Communication skills to effectively collaborate with clinical program staff and privacy professionals; includes verbal, written and active listening. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop working relationships within department and team and achieve common goals. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately; detail oriented. Demonstrated reliability and consistency with work. Proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Takes initiative. Preferred: Experience working in the health care field Final candidate subject to background check.
