The company began as Van Water & Rogers in 1924 when two partners came together to create a small firm that would buy and sell raw materials, later expanding into the chemicals and ingredients markets. In 1970, shortly after the company became the largest chemical distributor in North America, the company name changed to Univar. Most recently, in March of 2019 Univar merged with leading chemical distributor Nexeo Solutions to create Univar Solutions – a global partner and committed ally for the distribution of value-added chemistry and related products and services.
