Vice President of Operations & Distribution/Logistics URM, the number one food distributor in the Northwest, is looking for an experienced person with significant front-line oversight and strategic and tactical leadership to lead our Warehouse and Transportation Operations team based in Spokane, WA. As the Vice President of Operations & Distribution, the ideal candidate must be dynamic, self-motivated, enjoy working with a collaborative team, and be solution oriented. Reporting to the CEO/President, this position provides direction and oversight of in-bound and out-bound shipping, inventory control, coordinates all administrative functions and enforces corporate policy, procedures and operating systems for 400+ Warehouse, Transportation, and Facilities employees. Your Day-to-Day: · Provide mentoring and coaching in the areas of employee counseling, disciplinary action, employee development, as well as sustaining a high employee morale · Lead and negotiate resolutions in the grievance process with all URMs Union CBAs · Take the lead and provide direction for labor negotiations · Interact regularly with leadership team to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction. · Ensure that the company’s commitment to delivering quality customer service and on time deliveries is met. · Forecast headcount needs based on labor cost, budget management, and partner with HR to create staffing strategies to ensure staffing levels and a flexible work force. · Plan the implementation and support of new/upgraded warehouse and office operating systems required in the administration of the Company. · Build a cross organizational rapport to execute amazing customer service. · Be accountable for the administration required for a physical inventory and reconciliation. · Diligently monitor all aspects of the facility P&L responsibilities, budgeting, scheduling, measurement and calculation, statistical analysis, forecasting and trending. · Implement cost reduction initiatives. · Create a spirit of continual analysis and improvement in areas of safety, quality and productivity. · Ensure the company’s physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, alarm systems, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized. · Develop/implement appropriate metrics to measure the performance in all logistical functions. Ideal Candidate Profile: · Professional demeanor · Qualified candidates will possess managerial experience in leading teams responsible for transportation, warehousing, facilities, and customer service. · Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. · Excellent organizational / time management skills. · Proven analytical ability, problem solving skills and data driven decision making capability. · Flexible schedule and ability to manage a multi-shift operation. Experience: · Experience with Warehouse Management Systems. · Experience with the development and enforcement of Industrial Engineered Standards · Experience managing Union employees and Negotiating Contracts · Compliance experience with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA and/or FSMA regulations · Has supervised and developed individuals at the manager level. · Extensive knowledge and experience in the grocery industry with Dry Goods, Dairy, Fresh Meat, Frozen, Health, Beauty, and Wellness is a strong plus. · Working knowledge in a cross dock, pic n pack environment preferred. · Computer applications using MS office specifically access, excel, internet search engine capabilities. · Experience with design and layout of distribution facilities and best-in-class operations. · This role requires a highly accomplished supply chain executive with managerial experience. Education: A Bachelor’s degree in logistics and distribution management or related discipline is preferred; or equivalent years of managerial and operations experience in high volume distribution environment Why Join Our Team?
