The Patient Transport Services department provides coordinated, centrally dispatched transportation services for patients being treated in the outpatient clinics and the inpatient units and diagnostic areas. The unit also provides information, reception and assistance to patients, visitors, hospital staff and the public. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Responsibilities The Patient Escort will transport patients between patient care areas by wheelchair, gurney and bed within the main hospital. This position will also provide a comprehensive orientation and training program for new Patient Transport Assistants Required Qualifications CPR certificate Knowledge of proper body mechanics and patient transfer techniques, and skill to transport patients without injury to self, patient or others Knowledge of and ability to follow appropriate infections control techniques to safeguard other patients and visitors from infected patients Basic knowledge of CPR, O2, IV's/pumps, feeding tubes/pumps, foley bags and chest tubes In person customer service experience Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic calculations, follow oral and written instructions Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Direct patient care experience preferred Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
