The Trust for Public Land was founded in 1972 on the conviction that all people need and deserve access to nature and the outdoors, close to home, in the cities and communities where they live, as a matter of health, equity, and justice. While many conservation organizations set aside wildlands for biodiversity or habitat restoration, our founders sought to bring the benefits of parks and nature to the places, people, and communities that needed them most. Every park, playground, and public space we help create is an open invitation for everyone to explore, wonder, discover, and play. We’re proud to say that we’ve been connecting communities to the outdoors—and to each other—since 1972. Today, millions of Americans live within a 10-minute walk of a park or natural area we’ve helped create, and countless more visit every year. Our 300+ employees are driven by our mission and by being a part of an organization making transformation happen at the community level. Working from more than 30 field offices nationwide, we craft customized solutions to local challenges, drawing from the resources and experience of a national organization..
