Community Engagement Coordinator Employment Type: Full-Time Employment Classification: Non-Exempt Start Date: Flexible Apply by: March 20, 2020 Reports to: Associate Director of Volunteer Services Salary: up to $34,000 depending on experience Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlanta’s tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area, and has grown to become one of Atlanta’s most widely known and supported non-profit organizations. Job Description This coordinator will engage communities by sharing Trees Atlanta’s mission and connecting people to volunteer and advocate for our urban forest. This role, like many roles at Trees Atlanta, requires supporting and collaborating across many teams and project groups within our organization and throughout our greater community. The coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Volunteer Services and work closely with the Director of Outreach and Marketing. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following. Schedule and represent Trees Atlanta at community meetings Engage community groups, organizations, and individuals to actively collaborate, support, and/or lead with Trees Atlanta to organize and host programs and events Communicate with individuals and groups of volunteers about upcoming opportunities Post and manage volunteer opportunities, including system administration of volunteer database Coordinate with Trees Atlanta staff to schedule and recruit for volunteer opportunities Collaborate with the marketing department to promote Trees Atlanta programs and events Recruit volunteers at festivals and volunteer fairs, including setting up and breaking down displays and booths Track and report on outcomes of community engagement activities Requirements The successful candidate has: Emotional intelligence and diplomacy to work well in diverse groups Ability to self-manage and progress toward goals in a timely manner Excellent communication skills, written, and verbal Proficient in Microsoft Excel (experience with Salesforce and database management is a plus) Flexible 40-hour a week schedule, including frequent evenings and weekends Creativity and passion for sharing Trees Atlanta’s mission Education or extensive experience in the fields of forestry, environmental science, and/or community organization (engagement and activism) To Apply Please submit an employment application.
