Then consider this opportunity with the Total Compensation Strategies Branch, where you will address issues relating to pension plans sponsored or jointly-sponsored by the Ontario government, including the Public Service Pension Plan, the OPSEU Pension Plan, the Provincial Judges Pension Plan, and various supplementary plans. About Us: The Total Compensation Strategies Branch, provides strategic policy advice on all aspects of compensation, including pensions, benefits, and pay, for the Ontario Public Service (OPS) and is responsible for initiatives to manage executive compensation arrangements in the broader public sector. The branch is also responsible for managing government's relationships with external compensation stakeholders such as pension plan administrators and insured benefit carriers, as well as managing OPS insurance appeals committees. The Pension Policy Unit provides strategic policy advice to support the government's stewardship of the pension plans provided for Ontario Public Service (OPS) employees, the judiciary and employees of designated public bodies. These plans include the Public Service Pension Plan, the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Pension Plan, the Provincial Judges Pension Plan and several supplementary plans. As a Pension Consultant you will: Lead the development and analysis of strategic pension policy options for the Ontario government's pension plans Lead the implementation and maintenance of policy for the Ontario government's pension plans and related agencies Consult and collaborate with applicable internal and external stakeholders on pension options, initiatives and inquiries Provide governance oversight of the Ontario government's pension plans and related agencies, including processing government appointments to the pension boards How do I qualify? Technical Skills and Knowledge: You have demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Canadian pension sector, with an understanding of current issues and practices You have knowledge of defined benefit pension plan design, governance requirements and relevant legislation, specifically the Ontario Pension Benefits Act and the Income Tax Act (Canada) You have demonstrated ability to interpret policies, legislation and other relevant documents You have demonstrated ability to develop, implement and maintain pension policies, identifying potential issues or impacts and strategies to mitigate risk- you have demonstrated experience performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis You have demonstrated experience performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis Project Management and Analytical Skills: You have strong project management techniques and practices to manage and coordinate projects from inception to completion You have the ability to identify and analyze cost/liability valuation implications of various pension policy options, develop policy proposals and provide costing proposal feasibility and risk analysis support for negotiations You have analytical and problem solving skills to assess and resolve complex problems and issues Communication and Relationship Management Skills: You have demonstrated experience providing advice and guidance to both corporate and ministry professionals in the interpretation, integration and application of relevant pension legislation, regulations and policies You have excellent written communication skills to prepare reports, briefing materials, correspondence and submissions, and you are able to clearly communicate complex information You can present information clearly and effectively to explain policy recommendations and gain support from stakeholders You have a demonstrated ability to consult and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on pension options, initiatives and inquiries You have demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills to build effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners, and to work effectively as a team member Additional Information: Address: 1 Permanent, 315 Front St W, Toronto, Toronto Region Compensation Group: Management Compensation Plan Understanding the job ad - definitions Schedule: 6 Category: Human Resources Posted on: Monday, February 10, 2020 Note: N-TB-144358/20
