Role Purpose The role is to allow the performance of Permitting for Streetworks function in Highways and Transportation Service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team delivering the Network Management Duty requirement for the Council. You will play an important role in making sure that road works and street works activities are undertaken with full regard to the Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991 and the London Permit scheme. Key Responsibilities Ideally you will have extensive knowledge and experience of working within a Street Works background. You will work as part of a team of officers responsible for upholding Tower Hamlets Network Management Duty in accordance with NRSWA 1991, TMA 2004 & Road Traffic & Regulation Act 1984. Your role will primarily involve co-ordination of all Street Works activity, processing road closures & assessing incoming notice/ permit applications, highways licenses, undertaking road and street works site inspections to ensure compliance with permit conditions, recording of activities and preparation of performance reports. You will have experience of working in a traffic management environment and have general knowledge in highways. Requirements Because of the technical demands of this position, the post holder will require: Working knowledge of Streetworks & the permit scheme Working knowledge of the EToN Specification NRSWA accreditation Experience of inspecting and monitoring works of statutory undertakers. Working knowledge of Construction, Civil Engineering, Traffic Management and reinstatement of Highways.
