The Role: The VP of Engineering at Universe is responsible for building, leading and maintaining our technical team at the highest level. You will be an excellent recruiter, with proven leadership capabilities, as well as being an inspiring technical expert. Your primary objective will be to build and manage a team of lead developers and engineering managers, with a focus on results but also on people development. Through impactful leadership, you will participate in developing the most efficient organizational structure, you will impact culture and ensure efficiency in all the systems we use to enable the team to ship high quality code on time & on budget. More specifically, you will be responsible for making the engineering organization successful by proactively developing and executing on a 12-month strategy on people and technology. You will directly report to the General Manager of the company and will work closely with senior leadership at Ticketmaster. Key success factors in this role are centered around people and technology: the ability to attract, build and retain top talent as well as driving agile engineering decisions. What your day could look like: Strategy and roadmap planning and triage sessions, ensuring collaboration with all internal stakeholders As a key member of the Universe Leadership team, ensure alignment in strategy and process in order to achieve annual company objectives Driving operational efficiencies within the technology organization Monitoring technology spend across vendors and platforms and adjusting as required Constantly improving the way we work to drive quality and efficiency of our engineering output in a way that makes the team proud of their craft Collaborating and communications with multiple department within Universe and Ticketmaster Providing proactive leadership to the team, providing clarity of expectations and continuously recurring feedback Proactively engaging in the recruitment of key engineering roles What we're looking for: Experience leading and coaching an engineering team of 15+ Experience with high-availability and modern systems that transact 9-figure transaction volumes Familiar managing information technology budgets Experience in creating engineering team excellence through changing team structure, behaviours, and systems Familiarity with security and information technology operational audits You should work at Universe if: You believe good people decisions are just as important as technical decisions You are excited to invest in and develop your team member’s skills and careers Aren’t afraid of tough conversations, transparency, and honest feedback You’re still on a learning journey yourself, and enjoy being challenged and stretched as part of the process of personal growth and professional success You have strong opinions, loosely held Ability to keep a level head under pressure You’re an independent, fast-learning, self-starter who takes ownership over solving hard problems You’re energetic, passionate, and driven!
