Location: Hughenden Gardens Village, High Wycombe, HP13 5GA Hours: 34 hours per week Salary: £12.47 per hour (£22,106 pa, pro rata) What can we offer our Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler? Role Overview Supporting people who live with dementia or other mental or psychological health issues is no easy task and helping them to lead more independent lives is even more so. You will work with individuals who experience dementia (or other mental health problems) and help them to take control of their social, recreational, psychological and spiritual well being. Because of the impairments people experience, they can be in danger of being or feeling excluded from life in and around the village. Your job as the Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler, will be to make sure this happens less and ideally not at all. You will actively gather relevant information about those residents at risk of exclusion from; their families, residents, management and staff. You will be required to spend quality time with the individuals on a daily basis to unlock their potential for achieving higher standards of well being. While devising an innovative and wide ranging programme to include these vulnerable individuals so they can share in the community life and improve their well being. To ensure this is helping the individuals you will be required to measure the impact using a wide range of evaluation techniques and re-evaluating measuring tools to improve effectiveness. Essential requirements Provided one to one support to people living with dementia and common mental health conditions Caseload management experience Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team Experience of using cognitive assessments Skills and Competencies Ability to develop empathic relationships with residents Ability to use supervision effectively and self-reflect Capacity to remain motivated even when working under pressure Respect for others rights of autonomy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to apply your knowledge of psychosocial and solution focused interventions to residents problems Understand the limits of your role and when to escalate cases for clinical input Good IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) Formal qualification in relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology, Counselling) Good understanding of the psychosocial approach Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with dementia Be able to describe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for dementia symptoms Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with common mental health conditions Values and behaviour Aptitude for team working and fostering good working relationships A positive attitude to tackling challenges An honest and open approach to internal communication A genuine commitment to equal opportunities by their promotion and application in the workplace and in relation to residents and the wider community through creating an inclusive environment We are incredibly proud of what we do and would love you to join us!
