The Overdose Prevention Worker will be part of a team of two in both locations of the RV (Downtown/Rutland) and also in West Kelowna. The successful candidate will carry a backpack of harm reduction materials, seasonal clothing, first aid supplies and at times food donations. Non-judgmental support and referrals for food, housing, healthcare, addictions, pregnancy, legal issues and employment will be provided to those that ask. Position: Casual – on call Qualifications: 1. Education and experience: Minimum diploma in Community Social Services or care aid certificate Recent, related experience of two years or Equivalent combination of education, training and experience or Other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work. 2. Job skills and abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Physically able to carry out the duties of the position Ability to work in collaboration with others Ability to organize and prioritize Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients Knowledge of community resources Ability to handle conflict Ability to utilize own vehicle with mileage compensation if required 3. Other requirements Criminal record check in accordance with agency policy Medical clearances Certificates in CPR and First Aid, Non Violent Crisis Intervention (preferred) Closing date: This posting may remain open until filled.
