Role Description: Work with customers to integrate TRQSS seat belts and hardware into vehicles and resolve customer design issues Understand and apply customer and regulatory test specifications, generate special tests where applicable Develop test plans, submit parts for testing, evaluate tests and prepare reports Provide direction to designers to develop unique components required for the vehicle application and end item assembly drawings Working with CAD (modeling and drawing generation) Provide direction and support to component application group in component development Release BOMs and end item assembly drawings Release design and development schedules, design plans, design activity summary, customer change and drawing schedules Support pre-production and prototype builds at TRQSS and customers Participate in PDT and AQP teams Create and maintain engineering documentation such as; DFMEA, CCT, DRBFM and FTA as required Work with TRJ to develop TRJ supplied and localization of components Support current production vehicles; includes problem resolution, cost reduction, component design and development and VA/VE (ECR’s and deviation investigations) Attend internal builds and builds at the customer, evaluate components in vehicle and returned components Negotiate timing of deliverables with customer (parts, drawings, testing) Assign projects to component application group and tracks progress Lead cost reduction activities on platforms Support purchasing activity Other duties as required Requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred) from a recognized Canadian university or sufficient proof of the equivalency of such a degree. 3-5 years engineering experience with 1-2 years seat belt experience preferred 1-2 years’ experience working with OEM customers preferred Proficiency in 3D CAD with SolidWorks/Catia experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word etc.) Self-starter with strong analytical and interpersonal skills who can converse clearly in both written and verbal situations Able to work in a fast-paced and exciting work environment that allows innovative ideas while working as part of a team This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid Ontario issued driver’s license and passport.
