An extremely competitive package including 20% annual bonus + car/car allowance + Family Healthcare + Pension, + Mobile Phone + Laptop The job: We are looking for an in-house legal counsel who will in partnership with the Company legal partners provide all business and legal affairs support required by the business in the UK. This includes being a trusted and key advisor to the leadership team as well as the Divisional Directors of the region; delivering first hand, first class business and legal affairs support on matters of key strategic, financial, regulatory and reputational importance to the business. The successful applicant will play a huge part in our strategy and future agenda. What you will be responsible for: Drafting, negotiating and management of commercial contracts with clients, customers and suppliers (public and private sector) Advise senior managers, and colleagues across the organisation in a practical and commercial context that identifies and advances solutions to problems; this will vary between a purely legal perspective and a more constructive, pro-active approach that aims not just to identify problems, but solve them, for example by suggesting an alternative way of achieving the same end result; Liaising with third-party legal providers when necessary e.g. M&A, Regulatory, and acting as an internal funnel with legal providers and insurers for all Company legal matters Working on M&A transactions (including many with industry regulatory elements) Advise and assist in the formulation and drafting of policies and procedures in response to changing legislative and regulatory frameworks and the business needs Alongside policy development, provide legal and compliance training to the business when required and develop through network an improved awareness and understanding of legal implications, risk and compliance Providing accurate, relevant and timely advice to various members of the business on a variety of legal topics that relate to the environmental services sector, products or services. Delivering timely and high quality legal advice to the business all in a practical and commercially focused way in relation to all relevant matters that reduce risk, resolve issues and maximise the opportunities for the business Claims support and dispute resolution Managing and mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures. Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business. Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company. Staying up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect our business and specific industry. What we need to take your application forward: Qualified solicitor with circa 3-5 years PQE experience. Experience gained from a well-respected in-house team or lead commercial firm as a commercial lawyer Demonstrate an ability to identify risk, good commercial awareness and a clear and effective communication style Understand the pressure points, strategy and objectives of the business and effectively communicate the risks and legal issues involved in any decision to management. This enables management to make informed strategic choices within an acceptable legal risk profile. Excellent negotiating and drafting skills. Ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand.
