Details: Location: Bloomsbury Category: Financial Salary: £26,394 Contract type: Contract Permanent Hours: Full time Telephone: 020 7323 8000 Senior Finance Assistant (Payables) Senior Finance Assistant (Payables) Finance Full time Permanent £26,394 per annum Application Deadline: 18 March 2020 by noon The British Museum is seeking a Senior Finance Assistant to work as part of the Payables function of the Finance Department in a world renowned setting and the most popular tourist attraction in the UK. You will ensure that financial data is accurate, that all invoices are recorded in a timely manner, and that the service provided to Museum departments is of a high standard. Key areas of responsibility: Maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring ageing is current and that payments are correctly allocated Liaise with all departments to ensure prompt authorisation of invoices for processing and resolving supplier disputes Prepare high quality payment runs, ensuring the weekly process runs efficiently and to timetable, including resolving queries, right through to the presentation to bank signatories Calculate Royalties payments for all applicable press titles including preparation of royalty statements twice annually, including the resolution of any queries that arise during the review Perform weekly Supplier set up review to ensure all suppliers set up by FAs in accordance to agreed financial controls Lead, motivate, manage and develop 1 member of staff Train new payables staff on the accounting system Lead on the management of the Museum’s staff credit card scheme as well as processing staff credit card returns to ensure adherence to Museum group policy Perform all monthly payroll checks for one entity within the Museum group Lead on ensuring till system is accurate via updates to NPI as required by Buying/ Retail Identify errors and inconsistencies in GL data and prepare correcting journals Have regard for and comply with PCI regulations Be the 1st level reviewer during the Finance Officer’s absence Assist with enquiries to the department and provide information to management as requested. Proactively suggest ways to improve processes to line manager and other team members Person Specification: The successful candidate will be able to work swiftly and accurately with figures, maintaining consistency and accuracy in processing a high volume of transactions. You will be IT literate with strong inputting and spreadsheet skills, and excellent attention to detail. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is able to work well with others and take on other work in the department during times of heavy workload or staff absence. With excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will be able to build strong working relationships within the Museum and with customers.
