This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London. Along with our more traditional transport construction projects and programmes, such as Metrolink expansion, park and ride, rail, highways and bus, we are also developing a range of emerging priorities from easing congestion, addressing air quality, encouraging more people to cycle and walk, alongside our innovation programme. Overall this level of investment is likely to exceed over £1 billion over the next few years. Due to our ambitious and significant investment programme across Greater Manchester, we are seeking experienced Project Managers to join the Projects Group team to contribute to the achievement of our challenging strategic priorities in the role of Senior Project Manager. Reporting to a Project and Programme Manager within Projects Group, in addition to the technical aspects of the role you will lead and manage a team of project management professionals working across a wide range of projects and will have suitable experience and knowledge to guide and support your team. In addition, you will lead the engagement with stakeholders across the public and private sector relevant to the projects you are managing. You will have demonstrable relevant people management experience in a project/programme management background, negotiating, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, both text and numerical, whilst working to tight deadlines and meeting funding and operational targets. You will also have a relevant project management qualification at Practitioner, Degree or Diploma level. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders using a variety of forms of communication and experience of presenting information to a range of political, professional and public audiences. Significant experience of project management techniques, a working understanding of the transport and environmental context within which we work, financial acumen (including managing budgets) and the ability to lead on partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders is required. The salary range for this role is £49,880 to £56,144. Salary on appointment will be dependent upon your skills and experience.
