Major Responsibilities: Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, friendly enthusiasm; assist them in locating the right merchandise Accept prescriptions and/or refills from customers in person or via telephone Accurately count/prepare medications for pharmacist to check Verify that the Chinese translation for the prescription (Rx) reflects correctly the English description Prepare compounds and calculate drug amounts and mix accordingly Answer phone calls from customers and doctors; refer all inquiries and/or issues that require a therapeutic decision to the Pharmacist Assist with Over-the-Counter (OTC) Operations such as ordering, stocking, and cashier duties Receive and replenish inventory to the system required level; put away daily stock (OTC and Rx) efficiently Reconcile accounts and collect outstanding monies from patients where necessary Assist to interpret and process of written prescriptions including Latin abbreviations, drug name recognition, dosage calculations as required Keep pharmacy and OTC area clean Other Responsibilities: Generate regular business reports as required Assist to make special order items such as crutch tips, or excessive OTC quantities Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s) Attitude Requirements: Demonstrate job commitment, accountable, reliable Possess a positive, proactive, self-motivated work attitude Good attendance record, comply with company’s rules and regulations Always ready to deliver excellent customer service skills and ability to handle cash accurately Friendly and able to build rapport easily with customers Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced retail environment Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays Completion of Grade 12 or an approved equivalent combination of education, training and experience Possess Pharmacy Assistant Certificate and/or pursuing the qualification is an asset Possess at least 1 year of work-related experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) Experience in interpreting and processing written prescriptions including Latin abbreviations, drug name recognition, dosage calculations is preferred
