About this job: We are now recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team based in Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre. You will ensure the application of European/UK regulatory standards and Syngenta codes of practice within the Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre (HMC). Link to other Syngenta manufacturing sites to share /adopt best practices and implement appropriate National / International standards for Mechanical functional areas This role will hold the following responsibilities: Forward looking Vs Legislative requirements. Provide feedback to site compliance group and Mechanical Network regards the likely impact of changing mechanical legislation. Own and define instructions/ procedures for key mechanical legislative requirements. Ensure specialist audits are carried out and supported as required. Establish and maintain appropriate Measures of Performance (Lead/Lag) to demonstrate Mechanical compliance. HMC’s lead for selected mechanical engineering topic(s) such as piping and vessels or rotating equipment. Guide the sites approach to compliance / integrity, equipment standards, work standards (throughout the equipment’s life cycle) and capability / competence. Provision of technical support for contract managers for specified Engineering services, Pre-Qualification processes, defining appropriate MOP’s. Lead the Mechanical element of the 5 yearly review of the COMAH safety report. Define the mechanical elements of the 5 yearly COMAH and annual site HSE improvement plans. Own the mechanical element of the HSE intervention plan for the site, ensuring corrective actions are defined, agreed and implemented to support these HSE intervention audits. Own the Mechanical element of the Engineering Capability matrix. Establish and maintain a mechanical functional competency framework for the site. Assess competency requirements for mechanical functional throughout HMC Mechanical function and support succession planning by identifying / defining training needs, delivery of programme and validation. In conjunction with all HMC topic leads and Syngenta Networks, effectively communicate required company / functional information and communication to Engineers on site. Manage mechanical functional websites and shared information portals. Qualifications You will be a great fit with the following experience: Substantial Engineering knowledge and experience in specialist discipline and current legislation relevant to Mechanical Engineering disciplines, e.g. PED, PER, PSSR, Mechanical ATEX Legislation, PUWER, LOLER, etc. IT awareness and application Direct and relevant in-depth knowledge of Mechanical engineering functionality, preferably within a chemical manufacturing environment Projects and Maintenance experience / involvement Technical and commercial contract management Skilfully plans, organizes and monitors performance to meet deadlines Senses and adapts to the changing environment to achieve excellence in delivery Set clear high achievable standards and goals Seek/share best practice, develop synergies, and communicate results Forward looking Work tenaciously toward and derive satisfaction from delivering agreed goals and commitments. Share information with key stakeholders to build their understanding of issues and capabilities Consideration how actions or plans will affect our customers; we respond quickly to meet their needs and to resolve problems, avoid over conflict Qualifications: Technical education to degree level in specialist mechanical subject (knowledge of chemical manufacturing technologies would be an advantage).
