What you will be doing: You are a field based Interior Designer focused on supporting the regional sales team’s strategic sales activities relating to product applications. You will contribute to sales efforts by leveraging and translating design research and insights to product solution concepts for customers. You will proactively impact the selling process by providing unique design application and collaborative workplace experiences that will differentiate Steelcase from the competition. You are responsible for complete knowledge of all product lines, including application and specification writing. The expected outcome is that we will improve our win rate, strengthen our relationships, and provide a more valued final solution. Who You Are: You are an experienced Interior Designer who desires a role where you can make greater impact on the customer experience and selection process. You have a keen eye for complex design application and know how to marry that with strong business ROI. You are comfortable leading customer engagements, presenting, and delegating. You are skilled in time management and prioritization. You have a demonstrated understanding of the design process with the ability to: Comprehend and translate application trends occurring in regional markets, aggregate them and interface with product applications and product development leaders to inform new product development. Translate application trends and research information into existing custom applications to provide Steelcase differentiation. Support mockup process with a creative eye toward differentiation against competitors. Provide advanced product training and tie to conceptual design applications. Mentor dealer technical support personnel toward a higher level of understanding. Advise sales consultants when working with progressive applications or custom product that would assist the design firm and/or end-user client in creating workplace differentiation. Understand and apply specific vertical market applications research in the development of typicals, tying these typicals and planning concepts to the client’s business results. Understand competitive furniture landscape and advanced concepts and processes being utilized by competitive manufacturers in order to portray a Steelcase solution in a positive, competitive spotlight. Support Applied Research Consultants with product solution concepts and help to measure results after move-in and use best-practices on future projects. Desired Experience: This is a front-line, customer facing role that typically requires 7+ years’ experience as a Corporate Interior Designer within a design firm or progressive dealer design department and a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.
