Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Associate, Compensation and Benefits performs duties related to the administration of pension and benefits. Acting as a point of contact for members, employees and third party (insurers) inquiries on matters related to pension and benefits, this role requires the incumbent to be compassionate and person-centered. The Human Resource Associate, Compensation and Benefits works in a manner consistent with the Mission, Values and Policies of St.Amant, while providing specialized, technical information in relation to member benefits. The Human Resource Associate, Compensation and Benefits also provides support to other HR staff in relation to classification and compensation activities within the organization, and at times, may perform recruitment activities. Qualifications: Education: High school Diploma, Certificate or G.E.D Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management and/or relevant skills and experience in an HR Related setting Post-secondary education or training that is relevant to the job responsibilities is considered Professional: Two or more years of work experience in human resources, with specific experience in pension and benefits administration. Experience working with employees and the public and in an effective and professional manner Good numeric skills to ensure accuracy in calculations of benefits entitlements, payments and deductions. Effective organizational skills Excellent data entry accuracy and attention to detail General understanding of human resources-related legislation, HR policies and collective agreements General familiarity of computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Ability to compile and analysis trend data for programs Experience using Quadrant or another HRIS is considered an asset CPHR designation is an asset (or working towards certification) Bilingual in both French and English is an asset Personal: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Client-focused; customer service excellence is essential Demonstrates objectivity when dealing with challenging situations and changing work environments. Able to think outside the box Values and commitment to continuous self-growth and professional learning Superb interpersonal ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with humility and self-awareness Ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback Demonstrates competence and character that inspires trust Duties and Responsibilities Program/Service Support: The incumbent works collaboratively with the Human Resources team when delivering services. Duties include: Administration and reconciliation of pension and benefits using in-house integrated payroll/HR systems. Reconciles pension deductions and remittances. Connects with Payroll regarding arrears/repayments, accordingly. Makes appropriate corrections in internal system (HRIS), relative to changes/errors. Provides assistance to staff on the interpretation and completion of benefits forms. Reviews and verifies completed benefits enrollment packages for new employees and newly eligible existing employees for accuracy. Enrolls eligible employees in applicable benefit plans, processes benefit changes, and advises employees of required/optional benefit changes due to life events. Tracks and notifies employees of benefit changes due to age/retirement and benefit eligibility due to changes in employment status. Process name changes for employees with benefits, ensuring applicable change forms have been completed. Processes request for Life Insurance coverage increases/decreases. Assists in the review and preparation of benefits related reports. Responds to inquiries from employees regarding pay and benefits issues in conjunction with HR/Occupational Health. Submits Notice of Absence (NOA) and Leave of Absence (LOA) forms to the benefit provider (HEB Manitoba) as required Supports the verification of annual benefit statements prior to distribution to HEB Manitoba and employees Participates in new employee orientation by presenting on behalf of pension and/or benefits Terminates Health & Dental (Manitoba Blue Cross) benefits when applicable Notifies Manitoba Blue Cross of monthly changes due to LOA / Returning from LOA Supports the annual review of Life Insurance and Disability & Rehabilitation plans required by HEB Manitoba Provides support to HR staff on classification and compensation matters Performs recruitment duties to support HR staff on an as needed basis Performs other related duties as required or assigned St.Amant welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
