About the Role We're now looking to add members to our Facilities Crew to fit seamlessly into our mission-driven, busy team. The Facilities Crew plays a crucial role in the daily maintenance and upkeep of our indoor farming facility, and spans a variety of tasks, from maintaining and cleaning equipment to supporting farming activities, including helping our farmers harvest crops. The Facilities Crew role is part-time, with the ability to grow into a full-time role, on our Brooklyn farming campus in Bedford-Stuyvesant, reporting to the Facilities Technician. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of the Facilities Technician, perform maintenance tasks related to maintaining indoor farms in storage containers, including: Sanitizing grow towers on a continual rotation schedule Removing and replacing indoor farm equipment Cleaning and maintaining indoor farm equipment Organizing and stocking inventory This role will assist in supporting farm tasks, under the supervision of the Facilities Technician and the farm team, including: Prep and Breakdown for Harvest Days Stocking Farm Pre-Harvest with: Storage crates Clean rags Scales Cleaning Post Harvest Sweeping and mopping Pulling plugs Bringing IFCOs to cold storage Sanitizing shears and surfaces Supporting harvest activities: Labeling plastic clamshells Packing produce into clamshells Harvesting produce Over time, this role will have the opportunity to be trained in additional farm-related activities, including transplanting and seeding. About you: Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for 8 hours Team player Willing to learn a variety of maintenance tasks BIG PLUS: Interest in indoor farming BIG PLUS: Experience with hand and power tools BIG PLUS: Aligned with our mission of bringing real, local food to people in cities
