We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manager, Accounting to join the band. This is a leadership role that reports to the Senior Director, Accounting (APAC) and is based in Singapore (APAC Hub). What You’ll Do Key point of contact and subject matter expert for APAC Hub Report to Record (RTR) function; maintain effective engagements with global/regional accounting teams and cross-functional stakeholders Manage Singapore accounting hub team’s development & capabilities to support finance and business needs for APAC region; set clear expectations & goals; drive positive team culture; resolve conflicts Direct and oversee deliverables for the team and outsourced service providers to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with IFRS (APAC Hub consolidated reporting) and local GAAP (for statutory audits/reporting for APAC legal entities) Ensure SOX compliance; enforce and recommend improvements to finance policies, internal controls, systems and processes; assist in documentation, testing and monitoring of internal controls Responsible for APAC monthly & quarterly close processes, including but not limited to review of journal entries, accounts reconciliations and fluxes, variance analysis, issue identification & resolution Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to enable business operations; understand business fundamentals and assess impact of business proposals on financial controls, process and reporting Participate in night calls at 20%-40% of total work time depending on global/regional projects & regular syncs, with flexible work arrangements; minimum travel expected (less than 2 trips a year expected) Propose and implement best practices that simplify, standardize and scale how we work; roll out global processes and systems in APAC, justify and document APAC exceptions due to local requirements Manage escalations of outsourced service providers; provide feedback & trainings as needed to improve work quality & efficiencies Liaise or assist in regulatory requirements for APAC legal entities with auditors, bankers, tax agents, relevant government agencies and/or outsourced service providers Identify and research accounting issues; form independent view and propose solutions; work with cross-functional stakeholders or project lead as needed for sustainable solutions Lead initiatives that drives Spotify and team culture Who You Are Minimum of 8 years related accounting operations experience with global company (preferably technology or related industry) with at least 3 years of people management experience Knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP and local GAAP in APAC; SOX or other local compliance equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related finance field degree Prior Big 4 experience or CPA or MBA or Master Degree equivalent preferred Experience with major ERP system required (e.g. Oracle, SAP, NetSuite) Technically proficient with web applications and MS Office (strong Excel skills) Strong analytical and communication skills across all levels Fluency in English, oral and written; additional Asian languages would be an advantage Work experience in managing outsourcing services would also be an advantage.
