The Hereford plant is the major European production facility in the Special Metals group and product lines include ingot, billet and bar, extruded sections, pipe and tube, flat products (plate, sheet, and foil) and wire for a wide number of markets. We are currently looking for 4x Mechanical Craftsman to join our busy Engineering Department. The role will provide engineering support within the team and the wider business, ensuring planned maintenance and equipment failure issues are completed consistently and in a timely manner. Essential Functions: Carry out fault diagnosis and provide rapid response to breakdown situations within the Maintained Areas Be pro-active and responsible in Fault Finding, Problem Solving, Route Cause Analysis and Rectification Undertake Engineering Planned Maintenance activities within the Department. Ensure that all Engineering plant within the allocated area are correctly serviced (planned maintenance routines), maintained and calibrated in conjunction with the current CMMS. (logging on and off and recording the work carried out) Ensure that safe working conditions are always maintained in conjunction with company 6’s and Risk Assessment policies both in associated Areas and Responsible plant equipment. Safety culture: use of method and risk assessments, Ensure efficient communication between you and your peers, including shift handovers and Miquest entries Adopt and pursue a working style that will continually improve and enhance work practices within allocated area Assist with the improvement methods of reducing plant downtime and increasing plant efficiencies within the areas of responsibility, using modern improvement techniques/updates. Additional Responsibilities: Carry out Health and Safety improvements within the areas as directed by the Engineering Team leader. Ensure as part of the Team that standards of husbandry and housekeeping are of a high standard as specified within the 6’s audit process. Assist in the development and skills training of the Apprentices allocated to the Team. Be flexible within departments to assist others where extra Resource/Knowledge may be required. Qualifications: Minimum: BTEC Higher National Certificate in mechanical engineering. Competencies: Good motivational and self motivational skills. Good interpersonal skills Able to communicate effectively at all levels. High level of self discipline. Analytic skills Education and Experience: Minimum: HNC maintenance/manufacturing engineering or similar. Experience and use of LOTO Mechanical experience Fitting Hydraulics & Pneumatics Pipe fitting Installation and repairs Basic welding Conversant with lifting plans and methods Working knowledge of plant and equipment in a similar environment including cranes Work Environment: Plant based Job Type Shift work (Days / 3 shifts / Continental) 37.5 hours a week Permanent Benefits: Bonus scheme On-site parking Life insurance Subsidised gym membership Reference ID: 108-111 Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £14.53 /hour Experience: Mechanical Engineering: 4 years (Required) Education: Diploma of Higher Education (Required)
