Southern Foodservice Management, a national contract food service provider, is looking for a motivated and ambitious Accounting Associate. Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Associate is responsible for accounting functions within the Accounting Department. This position interacts with all levels of employees. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities of the Accounting Associate include, but are not limited to the following: Monitor daily/monthly cash register sales reporting from all foodservice locations Recalculate and verify accuracy of sales data submitted by locations Validate daily bank deposits at remote locations Maintain schedule of banking deposits and transfers Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations Assist in preparing journal entries related to cash/sales activity Oversee merchant accounts for credit/debit card activity and troubleshoot issues Manage cash received at the Corporate office; record deposits Maintain organized, accurate records for financial audits Other duties and projects as needed QUALIFICATIONS: 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or other advanced clerical field Formal business school, finance or accounting courses a plus Understanding of basic accounting principles and internal controls SKILLS NEEDED: Strong oral and written communication skills Extremely organized; attention to detail; problem solver; organized Proficient in MS Excel Computational – adept with calculator (adding machine) Familiarity with accounting software Benefits Vacation Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Voluntary Life Insurance Universal Life Insurance Short Term Disability Insurance Long Term Disability Insurance 401(k) Credit Union Membership DISCLAIMER: The information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
