Main Purpose As part of the Alliance between South Western Railway and Network Rail, this post works as part of the joint control centre based at Basingstoke. The purpose of the role is to support the work of the Route Control Manager and team during both normal train running and disruptive events, to deliver the optimum service that meets the differing needs of the rail industry and customers. Principal Accountabilities Record all notable actions, using the available systems in accordance with the relevant company standards and instructions. Work closely with the RCM in the dissemination of information flows within and out of the control organisation. Disseminate accurate, concise and timely information to all internal stakeholders by regular monitoring of Control systems, and updating the appropriate messages accordingly. Prepare and publish real time performance updates to internal stakeholders throughout the day. Assist the RCM in the preparations for the management of significant events to ensure the incident management process runs smoothly. Record, issue and track actions agreed arising from operational incidents and activities. Shift Pattern Average of 37 hours per week over 5 days. Shift working including earlies, lates, Bank Holidays and weekend working. Minimum Requirements Excellent communicator across all levels. Friendly and people focussed. Strong planning and organisation skills with proven ability to prioritise workload and meet timescales. Good, accurate keyboard skills. Assertive, adaptable approach to work. Ability to stay focused in a busy environment. Ability to take accurate minutes of meetings. Conscientious and an eye for detail. PC literate, customer focused, attentive to detail. Multi-tasking against deadlines. Proactive in approach. Educated to GCSE standard.
