JOB TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST POSITION REPORTS TO: HUMAN RESOURCES/SAFETY MANAGER SALARY: WITHIN POSTED RANGE - DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE JOB SUMMARY Supports the human resources and operations by providing ongoing administration activities, maintaining records and preparing documents. Expected to initiate solutions to an array of situations and maintain the confidentiality of the department. Attract and keep good Associates by both assisting in establishing policies and working directly with Associates. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Respond to, investigate and report on a variety of management and employee concerns to the Human Resources/Safety Manager Maintains Associate confidence and protects operations by keeping personnel data and information strictly confidential Assist in the management of WSIB and LTD claims, including communication and documentation with employees and WSIB Assist H&S Coordinator in the facilitation of RTW action plans for injured employees Assist with Associate inquires by answering questions and requests. Maintains probationary review programs by following up with Supervisors and Managers to ensure timely application. Ensure accuracy of all data entry including but not limited to the HRIS, Associate files (hourly & salary), departmental wage structure & wage and benefit surveys; WSIB files, job posting files, training records, Health & Safety files and assist with aspects of the benefit and pension programs. Assists in organizing training programs as well as being responsible in assisting with the development and delivery of the Orientation program. Continual updating of the Company policies, Associate Handbook, Manpower summaries, Job Descriptions and annual Wage and Benefits surveys. Perform Document Control functions related to our Internal IATF and ISO systems. Updates Organizational charts and Job Descriptions as required. Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resources policies and procedures. Provide support in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience, including identifying ways to improve policies and procedures Assist HR team with the coordination of social and recreational events, suggestion programs, company barbecues, etc. to increase participation and enhance employee teamwork Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including; updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, tracking vacation/sick pay, inputting exceptions, hourly employee validations and benefit changes. Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and continuing education courses Performs other duties and projects as required. EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS Required HR Diploma or Degree Working towards the completion of CHRP designation (considered an asset) Work experience in the Human Resources environment for a minimum of (3-4) three to four years. Expertise in HR policies / procedures Experience as a Pension / Benefits Administrator Proven experience in ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 Experience with WSIB, Short Term & Long Term claims management Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations Proven ability to organize, manage projects and multiple tasks. Above average skill set in Microsoft office applications is necessary. Ability to work flexible hours, ability to work independently and in a team environment. Experience with health and safety practices, policies and regulations Focus on Customer First, with a high level of professionalism and discretion Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics and cultural awareness Excellent administrative and organizational skills Participate in Kaizen, PGC and 5S activities Ensure the Management Model, Vision and Mission are promoted during daily tasks Experience with payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce, Insync, Kronos) EQUIPMENT AND/OR PRODUCT · Computers, printers, telephone, photocopier and fax machines. WORKING CONDITIONS Well-lit climate controlled office area. Moderate exposure to noise when in the manufacturing environment. SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING · Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA. Follow and assure the adherence to the Company's procedures regarding safety rules and regulations. Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to the safety rules and regulations.
