We are looking for a versatile engineer that can drive innovation pilots from conceptualization to implementation. This position will play a lead role in promoting a culture of innovation, increasing process efficiency and maximizing value for clients. The ideal candidate would be self-driven, tech-savvy, curious, quick to identify areas for continuous improvement and an innovative thinker. What You’ll Do: Research emerging construction technologies and track trends in the industry. Act as an internal consultant, communicating the business impact of new technologies. Identify potential projects through research, interviews and construction job walks. Conduct interviews with craft workers and construction managers to establish key needs for innovation projects and continuous improvement. Implement small-scale pilots to test feasibility of new tools and processes. Write case studies, documenting key milestones and outcomes of pilots. Develop instructional materials that could be used for training and implementation. Collaborate with local innovation lead on large scale rollouts of successful pilots. Provide continuous support to project teams on newly implemented tools. Design creative ways to expose and promote innovative mindsets and behaviors. What You’ll Need Required Skills: Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, business, or human centered design related fields. Master’s degree not required but welcomed. Excellent project management skills, including careful attention to detail, meeting the needs of the client, budget and timeline tracking. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once. Ability to perform user research and conduct interviews. High aptitude for technology – ability to quickly master new digital tools. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across many teams and all organizational levels. Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to utilize data to tell a story. Creative problem solver with a passion for the built environment. Desired Skills: Experience driving continuous improvement, technology evaluation and implementation. Deep understanding of human centered design principles/ experience implementing the design thinking cycle (empathize, define, ideate prototype, test). Prior construction related experience or exposure. Positive and effective leadership skills. Proficient in Adobe software suite (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere Pro). Exposure to construction technology tools such as: laser scanning, 360 photo documentation, 3D printing, prefabrication, modular construction, VR training, VR development, HoloLens, construction robotics, materials science, predictive analytics, RFID/Bluetooth asset tracking, IoT, smart wearable/exoskeletons, advanced visualization tools, drones. Proficient in construction software tools such as: BIM 360, BuildingConnected, DocuPro, Latista, Microsoft Teams, Navisworks, PowerBI, Procore, Prolog, Quickbase, Revit, Sharepoint.
