Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Finance Manager is a hands-on role that is responsible for the activities of the Finance department, including supervising three direct reports. This role provides management of accounting and finance functions for the Congregation and other corporate entities under service contracts. The successful candidate will be a leader, who thrives in a collaborative culture and is able to balance competing priorities with team-oriented approach to leadership and supervision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable; supervise and provide guidance to Finance Department staff as needed; Prepare quarter-end and year-end reconciliations, quarterly and yearly financial statements and reports; Prepare annual working papers for external auditors and liaise with external auditors for the conduct of the annual audit; Prepare the annual operating and capital budgets; Forecasts and manages cash flow, including receivables and payables management in accordance with organization priorities; Oversee and manage the payroll function to ensure consistent and smooth processing of payroll, benefits and pension plan administration; Prepare, analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, clearly communicate quarterly and annual financial statements; Prepare and submit all necessary regulatory filings, including the annual charity return; Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures; Reports regularly, through the Chief Administrative Officer, to the Board of Directors and the Audit and Finance Committee. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Professional accounting designation. Possess a minimum of five years’ financial management experience. Strong organization and prioritization skills, attention to detail, with high level of accuracy. Effective time management skills and flexibility to work with changing priorities, ability to handle multiple competing priorities. Ability to work successfully as a reliable team member in a fast-paced work environment. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, proficient at building relationships with clients, external contacts and internal clients (staff). Have the soft skills required to effectively lead a small team. Be willing to learn and develop within the role and the ability to accept direction. Experience within a non-profit organization is considered an asset. Strong computer literacy with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience working with Sage/ACCPAC accounting software would be considered a strong asset.
