Roles & Responsibilities Summary: The Business Development and Marketing Specialist supports lawyers in the Asia Pacific region with a variety of business development and marketing activities. S/he reports to the Business Development and Marketing Managers (based in Hong Kong), and the Director of the Business Development and Marketing (based in Singapore). Projects may include: securing panel and other appointments through the submission of written proposals/pitches; assisting in the maintenance of business development and marketing collateral and system databases; preparing directory submissions; and supporting client events. Responsibilities: Proposals and Pitches: Serves as project lead for RFPs/pitches and contributes to global proposals, as assigned. Spearheads briefing discussions to propose and/or understand the opportunity. Writes new business proposals, conducts matters research and produces targeted, tailored responses to RFIs/RFPs. Supports follow-up, debrief activities post-pitch, and reports them back to Firm. Practice and Client Development: Leads practice group submissions of rankings, surveys, league tables and other ratings information. Develops and refines processes and procedures relating to the practices’ business development tools and systems (e.g., written collateral; experience database/matter lists; contact lists; opportunity tracking; etc.). Maintains an acute level of quality control to ensure that all marketing collateral, communications, deal or matter lists and the like are consistent, error-free and up to date. Ensures processes are efficient and the best possible use is made of available technology and other resources. Coordinates with the Market Intelligence team to conduct industry and client research to aid in practice development initiatives. Prepares practice/matter descriptions for firm’s marketing materials including news items, brochure and website. Event Management: Develops, plans, leads and executes firm-hosted/sponsored seminars and receptions for current and prospective clients. Among other things, this includes: Serving as the marketing lead for events and sponsorships; Creating and managing critical dates and timelines; Drafting and managing all related internal and external communication, including social media and website; and Working closely with the team on event logistics, including invitations, strategic development of guest lists, nametags, handout materials, site management, speakers, visual presentations and follow-up. Identifies, tracks and relevant regional speaking and other credentialing opportunities for our lawyers; creates relevant materials to support our efforts. Marketing Communications: Leads and manages production and distribution of client newsletters, alerts and external communications. Working with the Business Development and Marketing Managers and the Firm’s Digital Marketing team, assists with the development and implementation of social media strategies and initiatives for the Asia Pacific region. Generates, edits and monitors regional content on the Firm’s social media platforms, including WeChat, LinkedIn, Facebook and corporate website. Works with the Business Development and Marketing Manager, the global Creative team and other departments to ensure brand alignment and consistency. Assists in identifying award submission opportunities for the region. Assists the global PR team and the Business Development and Marketing Managers to support media relations for the region. Any ad hoc tasks as assigned. Qualification Requirements: Required: At least five (5) years of experience in the legal/professional services sector with experience on RFP/pitches and/or marketing. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Language skills: Fluent/native in English Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Working knowledge of CRM and other databases such as InterAction, Oneplace, CapitalIQ, etc. Preferred: Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills Experience within an international law firm environment Strong understanding of social media platforms and marketing Solid understanding of competitive landscape in relevant market Other Skills and Abilities: The following will also be required of the successful candidate: Strong organizational skills Strong attention to detail Good judgment Strong interpersonal communication skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills Able to work harmoniously and effectively with others Able to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion Able to work under pressure Able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities
