We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Digital Team as Research & Development (R&D) Strategic Lead. The primary responsibility will be to lead the Serpentine’s R&D Platform, which seeks to bring the art sector and its practitioners into ever closer dialogue with science and technology in order to build new art ecosystems. You will be a thought leader with vision and operational capacity to shape and build the R&D Platform as a pioneering research and development initiative in the arts. You will be expected to work independently as well as across the Serpentine team to contribute to and deliver the priorities of the Serpentine R&D Platform using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability. The Serpentine Galleries The Serpentine is one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries. Across two sites in London’s Kensington Gardens we present a year-round free programme for a million visitors a year. In 2020 we celebrate 50 years of the Serpentine; since 1970 we have been working with artists to address the most urgent issues of the day, with a pioneering cross-disciplinary programme that spans art, design, architecture, performance, events and artist-led community projects. What we are looking for We are looking for candidates who have: · Experience in developing new artistic programmes and initiatives that relate to R&D / Technology / New Operational Modalities within the cultural sector. · A flexible and credible team player, with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines. · Ability to think creatively, working with a high degree of independence, initiative and judgement with a sense of ownership in everything you deliver. · Ability to think holistically and maintain comprehensive overview of a multi-part programme with consideration of the key missions and requirements.
