Position Description: SEI’s Institutional Group is one of the first and largest global providers of outsourced investment management (manager of manager) services. SEI Investments South Africa Limited is responsible for delivering certain client service and marketing activities within South Africa on behalf of SEI Investments. The Managing Director – Institutional Investors (South Africa) will work with the Head of Institutional (EMEA) to set immediate and long term sales strategy for South Africa and achieve annual business development targets for new clients and increase assets from existing clients. You will manage the South African office and act as the key representative for SEI in the region. What you’ll do:STRATEGY: Part of the leadership team to define and manage the South Africa business plan and annual budgets. Keep abreast of and conduct market analysis to ensure SEI South Africa Institutional strategy is positioned accordingly. Identify market trends and input in to product development and strategy. Continuously define, assess and refine the sales process with prospects and existing clients. CLIENTS: Work closely with existing personnel to oversee the strategy and execution of client relationship management, including establishing and maintaining contact with key SEI clients and ability to deliver client report-backs Work closely with existing personnel to support existing clients and ensure their needs are met BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Continual lead generation through ongoing research/networking to identify and engage with prospects and position SEI Institutional in South Africa. Assess the opportunity and whether it aligns with SEI Institutional strategy and if so, continue to develop the sales/account strategy. Co-ordinate and execute the presentation/meeting. Identify unique buying needs/requirements and execute the sales strategy through to close of deal with the prospect. On successful close, co-ordinate with internal client service to manage the transition. TARGETS: Consistently work towards and achieve annual targets for asset growth from both new and existing clients as set by MD of Institutional TEAM MANAGEMENT: Recruit, motivate, manage and develop the team including: Conduct an annual review to assess individual performance against objectives set, identify strengths and development areas and set objectives/development opportunities over the coming year. This should be followed up with regular reviews to adjust /realign as appropriate. Handle any employee related issues (performance, grievance, disciplinary, sickness, etc) that may arise within the team in conjunction with HR. Ensure we recruit the best talent available outlining job specifications and conducting any briefing sessions, interviews, assessments, feedback, etc as required in conjunction with internal recruitment. Work with internal HR and recruitment to ensure continual development and retention of top talent within the team. All of the above must correspond and comply with relevant legislation in which the employee is based and company policy and procedures. REGULATORY: Ensure the team and office comply with all regulatory requirements, including: Work with legal and compliance and the board of SISAL to ensure regulatory obligations (including, but not limited to the FCA and the FSB) are met. OTHER: Ensure the highest standards of professional conduct are observed at all times Manage interaction with external entities to support our business strategy (including, but not limited to, BBBEE rating agencies) Technical investment and asset management proficiency including knowledge of markets, asset classes and specific offshore investment strategies would be a strong positive. Ensure effective communication of activity within South African office. Ensure the team provide timely and consistent recording of all relevant client contact (phone calls, emails, face to face meetings, sales process meetings, etc) in agreed database(s). Attend networking and industry events in the pursuit of new business development opportunities. Sometimes this may involve representing SEI by presenting at these events. Ensure all the above efforts remain aligned to unit and SEI strategy. Any other ad-hoc projects/duties as required. BEST PRACTICE: · Adhere to all relevant FSB requirements and compliance What you’ll bring to the table: Ability to evidence the highest standards of ethics and conduct in prior roles Ideally degree educated (or equivalent) with extensive experience working within the institutional market in a sales related role. Proven track record creating, developing and managing executive level relationships within Institutional asset management. Solid experience managing and leading a team. The ability to be credible in communications with senior personnel including board members. Proficient IT skills - all Microsoft office products and able to pick up other systems/databases easily. Willingness to travel extensively.
