The role: Working within the finance team, the Assistant Accountant will be a key member of the financial accounting team, responsible for posting and analysis of all overhead costs, including the calculation of accruals and prepayments. Also responsible for the preparation of the relevant balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis and providing full support and visibility to the business on cost reporting. The role will provide the successful candidate with insight into the insurance services sector as well as the opportunity to work in a private equity backed business with a history of significant organic and acquisitive growth. The business is very fast paced, and the role will give the successful candidate exposure to all levels of the business. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To Assist the Financial Accountant to ensure all overhead costs are accounted for and allocated correctly, ensuring financial integrity and audit trail at transactional level To Assist the Financial Account to ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly To develop and maintain knowledge of the operations of the business and the activities of other departments within the business To assist the wider UK Finance team with the production of monthly variance analysis of overheads by team against budget and prior period with the compilation of insightful commentary Supporting the annual Group and Statutory audit and financial preparation process under US GAAP and IFRS To plan and organise any other adhoc projects and take on any additional month end responsibilities as required. About you- Skills & Experience: Previous experience in a financial accounting team ACCA/CIMA/AAT (level 1-2) students would be preferable Advanced Excel skills SAP experience helpful, although not essential Person Specification: Continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo You must be happy to take full responsibility for any task given and demonstrate a sense of ownership Able to communicate to Directors and Senior Managers confidently Able to identify inconsistences in data and use initiative to solve problems Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines You’ll be a team player with willingness to help others beyond their formal role Must be willing to work as required to meet deadlines particularly around month end.
