The Boikarabelo Project is a greenfield coal beneficiation plant located in the Waterberg Coal Field in the Limpopo Province in South Africa. The project will develop and open pit mining operation and CHPP plant which will produce thermal coal for the export market and domestic consumption. We are seeking a key manager to lead the project controls area which will involve implementing and establishing budgeting, project control, risk management, schedule and progress measurement/forecasting expertise in project teams to meet reporting and quality responsibilities. This role will initially be based in our Centurion office and then mobilize to site as the construction phase commences. What does this role involve? Establish project controls processes and procedures (either directly or with the project team) for the project ensuring it conforms to corporate standards and meet client reporting expectations. Develop and undertake (as required) project controls auditing at key stages of the project cycle against established standards. Analyse and report on available project data sources along with broad-based economic, technical, legal and other data/trends. Manage the activities of the Project Controls function with respect to resourcing, exchange of information, knowledge and techniques. Mentor and coach the Project Controls Team in build technical capacity and meet broader development needs. Lead the Project Controls Team to provide timely and targeted support to the Project Director. Contribute to and assist with project proposals in relation to cost/schedule needs and associated time and cost claims. Undertake other Project Controls and general tasks (within the scope of agreed capabilities) as required. Be a visible and active leader in terms of all aspects of safety on the project. What are we looking for in our future team member? Minimum 15-years' experience in managing the project controls of projects including projects larger than USD +$200m Extensive experience with Primavera, MS and Earned Value reporting Demonstrated high level of understanding of various cultures based on previous work experience Exposure to similar sized projects in South Africa Experience in an EPC work environment Advanced client, people, collaboration, communication and management skills High attention to detail, schedule performance and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
