Peer Support Worker Location: Bristol Salary: £19403 - £21192 Closing Date: Monday 02 March 2020 Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South West offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other problems. Peer Support Workers (High Support Accommodation Service) Bristol Hours: 37 hours per week - over 7 day rota including some weekends and evenings up to 22.00pm Contract: Permanent Salary Range £19,403 - £21,192 per annum This post is based in our High Support Service in Bristol. The service supports service users with complex needs to move to lower level accommodation via the Mixed Pathway. You will have skills in the mental health and/or the drug/alcohol field and have an understanding of what factors can undermine a tenancy. You will work with service users in an on-going way, having the ability to work closely with other agencies including mental health services and housing providers, manage your own caseload and develop good practice. You will also have the ability to support people with daily living skills, maximising their recovery. A commitment to team working and the development of a flexible, innovative service is essential. We are committed to the on-going development of peer support roles within the services we provide. We know the great difference that these roles can bring to the people that we work with. Applicants must have and be willing to use lived life experience in relation to their own mental health recovery. In order to apply for our posts you will have either have used secondary mental health support services, e.g. had significant support from a CPN or a Psychiatrist or hospital admission with follow-on community support. Or: If you have not had statutory mental health support, but you feel you have received significant equivalent support, then please contact us to discuss your eligibility. Applicants who have not worked before using their lived experience will need to complete Peer Support Training on taking up the post. A full driving licence and access to transport is not essential though the post does involve travel around Bristol.
