TITLE: Staff Accountant DEPARTMENT: Finance REPORTS TO: Controller FLSA STATUS: Salaried, Exempt POSITION SUMMARY When you join Sounders FC you join a Family. As Sounders FC’s Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting both club and departmental goals by ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records. You are analytical, organized, accountable and detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills are a must, along with the ability to work well as part of a team. In this role you will provide support across the club, in addition to within the Finance department specifically, for a variety of dynamic and critical accounting needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manage the Accounts Payable process, including analyzing invoices and expense reports for coding and appropriate documentation and approvals. Administer SAP Concur payables system by managing user access, vendor setup, workflow and accounting controls. Manage and maintain W-9 files and annual 1099 filing. Oversee the Accounts Receivable process including creating invoices, applying payments and preparing weekly aging report. Cultivate and retain good relationships with vendors and customers. Prepare and input General Ledger journal entries including revenue recognition entries. Record daily banking transactions and prepare bank account reconciliations. Prepare various State and other regulatory tax filings. Support the accuracy of the General Ledger and prepare balance sheet reconciliations. Track fixed asset purchases and disposals and record depreciation entries. Assist with month-end close and financial statement preparation. Assist with year-end audits and state tax audits. Prepare process documents for accounting and administrative policies and procedures. Develop optimization and automation of existing finance processes. Required Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with accounting software required; experience with QuickBooks is preferred. Experience with an accounts payable and expense reporting software required; experience with SAP Concur is preferred. Education / Experience / Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. 1-2 years of relevant Accounting/Finance experience. CPA license a plus, but not required. Special Remarks Regarding Work Environment This position functions primarily at the Sounders FC office in Seattle. Must have reliable means of transportation. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed, including all Sounders FC home matches.
